925: Transformation of Major League Baseball: 1946-1976

The three-session class will explore the dramatic changes that occurred in major league baseball over a 30 year period following the end of World War II and how those changes are influencing baseball today. The changes include:

1. The end of the prohibition on black players in major league teams and the increase in the number of players from Latin America.
2. The expansion of major league teams into the South and the West as well as the development of a playoff system for determining baseball championships
3. The end of the Reserve Clause and the consequences of the growth of free agency among major baseball players.
