9500: Winter Studio—Simplify Your Painting

February 3-6
1:45 PM - 3:15 PM
In-Person

How to simplify a painting is the focus of this Winter Studio session. Explore various painting approaches using your own reference materials as subject. Whether working representationally or abstractly, students will develop new ways to think about their work by: clarifying elements to build a solid composition, observing light and values, mixing color, and applying paint. Instruction includes discussion, critiques, and personal attention. Painting experience is useful, however all levels welcome. Class members work in water media only. For the first class, come with several reference samples/photos of your interest from which to paint and a sketchbook.
