Carmen at 150!
January 24, 2024
1:30 PM
In-Person at OLLI Building RM A (First Floor) 4801 Massachusetts Ave. NW

Registration Required

Join City Choir’s Artistic Director Erin Freeman and singers from the 2024 Wolf Trap Opera Studio for a celebration of one of the most popular operas of all time: Bizet's Carmen.

Erin Freeman will share what makes Carmen so memorable, from its stunning melodies to its feisty rhythms, from its beautiful French language to its dramatic historical context. You will be treated to musical performances by soloists for City Choir's January performances – rising stars of the opera world trained most recently at Wolf Trap Opera, and hand selected by Erin Freeman and Arianna Zukerman.   There will be a Q and A after the performances, followed by a reception.  Please register for this event.

Fun fact: Jazmine Saunders, who performed last year at this very event, is now gracing the stage of the Metropolitan Opera as part of the Lindemann Young Artist Program. And, in May, she will be performing the role of Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro in a Met mainstage production.
