200: Exploring Our Current Cultural Complexities

Our world is becoming so complex in trying to comprehend the rapid changes affecting our normal social relationships, political systems, financial stability, and more. What can we do? We’ll explore the large issues of the day through the brilliant documentary series “Explained” produced by Vox-Netflix. Explaining our inner world, we’ll delve into mental health aspects of memory, anxiety, and mindfulness. To better grasp our expanding outer worlds, the topics range from wealth gap, crypto-currency, and digital grammar to political correctness, designer DNA, and living forever. Each theme will be enriched with class readings from journals, magazines, and newspapers. From left and right we’ll encourage spirited debate.
