A year ago, OLLI SGL Joe Oppenheimer led an inspiring class on playwriting, and four intrepid playwrights-to-be took up the challenge. The result was not only some amazing one-act scripts, but starting in April, a series of readings of these works! As part of OLLI's commitment to building community through its courses, as well as its social and cultural events, these readings will give the playwrights the audience they crave, and OLLI members can see world premieres and offer feedback after each reading. A social time will follow.

April 17: "How Can I Be...?" by Jeanne Kent

"How Can I Be ....?", written by Jeanne Kent, portrays the desperation of a young housewife who has left a socially stimulating job to stay at home and care for her two very young children. She turns to others, including chatbots, for ideas on how to free herself from the despair of an unfulfilling life and be happy again. After many frustrating exchanges with humans and chatbots, an answer mysteriously arrives.

Make sure to register for these Wednesdays at 12:30 PM at the links below. You won't want to miss them!

April 3: "Scenes from a Homecoming" by Chuck Jones

April 10: "Gutter Day" by Sean Finnell
