What phenomenon draws millions of people to these artists? Why did Dylan and Ernaux earn the Nobel Prize for Literature? How do they all cross over many generations and sustain our interest?
The study group leader has no pat answer, but hopes to engage in a meaningful conversation with members of his multi-media presentations of carefully curated videos of selected songs and books. Course members are encouraged to contribute fully through viewings, class discussions, suggestions, and their optional readings.

Kent WatkinsKent Watkins has been a key staffer in the US House and Senate, White House, and HUD; an executive in a major corporation; a partner in a national urban planning firm; and an international consultant. He earned degrees at William & Mary, Harvard, and Oxford. He also studied and/or taught at the Universities of Cambridge and London, MIT, American, Sciences Po, and other institutions. He has held the posts of Associate Director of Harvard’s Center for Press, Politics, and Public Policy and Director of the Center for Urban Affairs at Florida International University.
