810: Ancient Tibetan Secrets of the Fountain of Youth

Explore the possibility of turning back the clock on aging through five mysterious, yet simple yoga postures called the “The Five Tibetans.”
In the 1920s, an ailing British Army officer set off on an adventure to the East following stories of Tibetan Lamas with robust health who lived to be well over 100. After a difficult journey, the Colonel found an ancient monetary. He was invited by the monks to stay and spent a few years practicing a kind of yoga called “The Five Tibetans.” He returned home astonishing friends and family with his newfound youth and vigor.
This short course is based on the book, The Eye of Revelation first printed in 1939 by Peter Kelder and later reprinted in 1985 and 1989 under the title Ancient Secrets of the Fountain of Youth. It tells the story of how the author initially met the old and decrepit Colonel Bradford and heard his plans to travel East seeking health and rejuvenation. A few years later, Mr. Kelder ran into the Colonel and could hardly believe the transformed man was the same aged fellow he befriended years before.
The “secret” is a series of five simple, moving poses that strengthen and invigorate the seven “vortexes” or Chakras of the body. The whole routine takes only 15 minutes. In this course we will go over the five rites and talk about how being active can increase overall health and vitality. We will discuss the Chakra system, and Joseph will demonstrate The Five Rites, inviting any willing students to give them a try. He also will share some dietary wisdom from the monks and introduce the powerful and mysterious Rite #6, which should only be done after practicing the first five for a time.

Note: The short, 50-page, large-print book Ancient Secrets of the Fountain of Youth by Peter Kelder is required and it is requested that it be read before the first class so that with only three class sessions, we can get the most out of our time together.

Joseph Reo holds a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University and was an adjunct instructor at George Washington’s School of Exercise Science where he taught meditation, massage, and sports massage for over 10 years. He currently teaches meditation and massage with various adult education companies and is a licensed, massage therapist with an active, 20-year practice in Northwest DC.
